For the big jobs, take your vehicle to Skinner's Automotive! Our expert services are ideal whether you have a late model import or newer domestic vehicle. And because we guarantee the work we perform, you can rest assured you are receiving the highest quality engine overhaul and replacement services in the Crum Lynne, PA 19022 area.

Our heavy duty services include:

Engine Replacement
The engine converts energy into useful mechanical motion. This amazing machine is what keeps your vehicle moving. Although generally reliable, a car engine is susceptible to damage and breakdown. When this happens, do not sit and stress over it. Take action. Take the vehicle to a mechanic for an engine replacement. Bring it to Skinner's Automotive. Visit us at 1301 Chester Pike for quality engine replacement services.

Transmission Replacement
In motor vehicles, the transmission usually refers to the gear box, which uses gears and gear trains to transmit speed and tourque from a rotating power source to another device. You can have your car's transmission replaced with a new, rebuilt, remanufactured, repaired or used transmission. For more information contact Skinner's Automotive in Crum Lynne, PA. Our experienced service technicians can help you make the best decision for your vehicle and your wallet.

Cylinder Head
A cylinder head is the closed end of a cylinder (located in a car's engine block). It sits above the cylinder block, closing the top of the cylinder and forming the combustion chamber. The cylinder head coordinates airflow in and out of the engine. Since the cylinder head's chief function is to seal the cylinders properly, insufficient compression results in the car being difficult to drive. To have your cylinder head checked and repaired, talk to Skinner's Automotive's cylinder head repair and reconditioning specialists today.

Timing Belt
A timing belt is a part of your car's internal combustion engine. The belt synchronizes the camshaft and the crankshaft rotation so that the engine valves open and close at the correct timings. Also, the belt prevents the piston from striking the valves in an interference engine. A timing Belt is a rubber belt that usually features teeth on the inside service, while a timing chain is a metal roller chain. Most cars we drive now have timing belts instead of timing chains and gears. Although different manufacturers have their recommended mileage, you need to have your car's timing belt checked regularly. To have it checked by experts, contact Skinner's Automotive today.

Cylinder Block
A cylinder block is the powerhouse for the motor vehicle. The solid cast car part houses the cylinders and their components (gaskets, valves, and seals) inside a lubricated and cooled crankcase. Since it is one of the most important parts of your car, the block is designed to be extremely strong and sturdy. Although strong and sturdy, the block is susceptible to failure resulting in a vehicle that won't start. Cracked blocks, porous blocks, core plug, or freeze plug failure are some of the problems facing cylinder blocks. Call 610-833-1200 to talk to the mechanics of Skinner's Automotive about your cylinder block problems.

  • Totally lost my brakes. Called John Skinner. Got it right in. Brake line had rusted through. Skinner's able crew replaced the line...not easy on a 22 year old Honda, and back on the road again in no time. Now that is service!
    -George M.

  • I dropped my car off in the morning before work. Papers, pens and envelopes available to fill out a request and drop my key off since I was there prior to them opening. I requested that my car be done by lunch time if possible. Sure enough, my inspection was complete by the time I was done with lunch. Check out/paying was very quick and easy. Every one was extremely friendly. Overall I was very happy with my experience and would definitely return to Skinner's in the future.

  • I could go to several service/repair shops between my home and Crum Lynne, but I chose Skinner's. Good people, good service, fair prices, always go the extra step. Just added a new vehicle to our family's fleet and that vehicle will go there as well. John and Melissa appreciate my business, and I in turn appreciate their friendship as well as their workmanship.
    -Stuart D.

  • I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my recent experience with Skinner's. I brought my car in for inspection and emissions about 9:00 am on a weekday. They asked if I needed a ride home (which at the dealer's they never asked me)! I was quite impressed with this. I told John some of my concerns and he said he'd check it out. He called me about 12:00 pm and told me what he found. It was a good amount of work, but I love my CR-V, so it was worth it. John also asked me if I wanted my headlights cleaned (the dealer said he'd need to replace the entire headlight to fix the oxidation problem so common in vehicles these days). I took John up on his offer and was WOWED when I picked the car up about 5:00 pm. What a huge difference - he has some magic potion, I guess. I met with Melissa to pay for the work and found out that we had graduated in the same class! What a small world. From now on, I won't go anywhere but Skinner's for all my vehicles. Great job!!!
    -Susan C.

  • Went in for an inspection and oil change and John's crew found a broken motor mount and bad master cylinder. Everything fixed the same day. Now that is service! One very happy customer.
